Just hung out with Nokia last night at their N90 event where they were flogging their mobile phone-camming contest and their work with Philip-Lorca DiCorcia, one of them fancy photogs, and Carl Zeiss for their optics in the N90. Generally, the N90 was a hot little number but I think their See New competition is something to take a gander at. The competition invites anyone with a 1-megapixel or higher cameraphone to submit photos. The grand prize winner get a day with DiCorcia and regional winners get two tickets to any destination with—get this—“access to luxurious airport lounges.” That’s PR-speak for “we’ll stick your ass on a business flight to Nepal.”
Because most mobogging, up to this point, has consisted grainy shots of people’s junk, it’s nice to see some art going into this thing.

Im very disapointed the Gizmodo UK site doesnt contain the same info as the US site... Im even more disapointed that I can longer access the US site!!!

What the heck is this? Why is the url being re-written to uk.gizmodo.com and why are the posts I saw yesterdy before this weirdness kicked in listed with today's date? Is this one of those 'hey let's give the site a coporate makeover and screw it up so that it's not as good as it was and we loose half our readership' exercises?

The truly "German Only" content of this "new an improved" gizmodo is about as interesting as...
What the f@(]! it's completely boring and devoid of real TECH NEWS!!!

If this forced language and content selection is not stopped immediately, I won't return to read gizmodo. WHAT A NONSENSE! You could at least have warned us, your long time readers!!!

This is a total lack of consideration on Gizmodo's part. They should be getting from the browser, what our preferred language is, rather than just simply using an IP address to redirect us. Another great piece of site design mastery, is how even when you go to us.gizmodo.com it still pushes you out the local version of the site.
I am concerned all they care for is putting a banner that is regionally correct for us.

Hey Guys, sorry for this mess.
We are having DNS pbs with the Redirect to Europe. When solved, you should be able to get to the US Gizmodo site with the http://us.gizmodo.com URL. As for now, you can go there : http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/2005/10/index.php in order to get the freshest news from your Gizmodo site. Again, sorry for inconvenience...

I like the new design although they are a few too many flashing banenrs (much prefer text ads).

I also don't like the idea of being sent to the UK version. I wanna hear about what's going on all over the world, not just the UK.

Been reading since launch, mainly to get a world-wide perspective, not one limited to the gadget backwater that is the UK. Looks like I can't do that anymore, so I'll be reading Engadget from now on. Bye!
