Our Spanish Gizmodo cousin woke us up this morning with a bit of news about the iPod Video which was apparently discussed on BBC 6 in some bit of interstitial programming. I’m calling bullshit on this, but take it how you will. During a broadcast earlier in the day, BBC 6 Music news reported “Apple is set to unveil a new video iPod at the BBC Television Centre in London on October the 12th. The company is expected to reveal details of the new MP3 and video player as well as video bundles to be available from the company’s iTunes stores.”
Luckily, the bit of the broadcast is now missing from BBC's website and folks in Cornwall swear they saw Bigfoot and Jersey Devil run off with miles and miles of audio tape containing tapes of Steve Jobs talking about the new Video iPod while drunk on soju, the confession of the true JFK assassin, and a tripping Chief Justice Roberts talking about how “Green isn’t just a colour, man, it’s an idea.”
UPDATE - So we’ve got some sort of webpage from Apple South Africa which appears to be the aforementioned Bigfoot holding a TV remote (pictured).

There was indeed a European launch of the video iPod at the BBC Television Centre - so the leaked story on the radio was correct. No BBC content yet available, though. http://www.ipod.org.uk
