golden_horse1.jpg How much do you love your kids? If you think taking them to Cars and buying them popcorn makes you impressive then it’s time to hang your head in shame you cheap git.

What you are looking at here is a golden rocking horse that is worth around £673,000. This is not the only mad thing made from gold though – anyone remember the £2m golden Mickey Mouse?

Built by a Japanese jewellery designer, it’s been created to celebrate the newborn Japanese prince, Hisahito. Obviously, he gets his for free but the designer has said the horse - carved from 30Kg of gold – can be built for the well-heeled too. You’ll be happy to know that it can actually rock. – Martin Lynch

dolbypl2.jpg Apart from being able to jump around the room while playing Wii games, it’s now good to know that the sound will rock too.

Sound experts, Dolby Laboratories, has announced that the Wii will use Dolby Pro Logic II technology. That means, 2-channel stereo sound from games will be enhanced and split into 5 channels to create a pseudo-surround field through a typical five-speaker home cinema surround sound set-up. It ain’t true surround but it’s better than a kick in the nuts.

On the other end of the audio scale, Dolby revealed its formats for the upcoming PS3. The console will offer Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound for games and Dolby Digital and Dolby TrueHD for decoding up to 7.1 channels for Blu-ray movie playback. Now all we need is either console to test out all that ear candy. – Martin Lynch
