ultimate wolverine-767754.jpg If you can’t beat them, join them. Corny, but true in the case of Marvel Comics, which has teamed up with its arch nemesis, games developer Cryptic Studios to build a massive multiplayer online (MMO) game for the Xbox 360 and Windows Vista PCs, based on the Marvel Universe.

This could be so good since Microsoft has already paid Marvel to licence all of its 5,000 heroes and villains for games development. The MMO is currently being developed under the name Marvel Universe Online.

Cryptic created the marvelous City of Heroes and City of Villains MMOs, allowing us normal folk to create our own superheroes and design our own tights. Considering Marvel should have done it first it was a real ‘egg-on-the-face’ scenario. Lawyers and court ensued. Still, hatchets have been buried and Cryptic have proved they can create a great superhero universe. Now all Marvel has to do is to hand over a whole batch of well-loved, and multi-patented superheroes.

No dates yet but expect the latter end of 2007 at the earliest. Cryptic has also quelled fears by saying that City of Heroes and City of Villains will continue as normal. Phew.

Virgin founder, Richard Branson wants you in space.

Considering that traditional music sales are being gobbled up by downloads and illegal downloads, the profits from a £10 CD pale in comparison to a £110,000 ticket price for taking a 2.5hr trip into space in his private SpaceShip Two.

Today, you get to see just what the interior of the Virgin Galactic Spaceship will (probably) look like. Cushioned reclining seats will help keep you comfy while you ogle the stars from a height of 68 miles.

Six lucky sods are already signed up and the first four are reported by Boing Boing to be Brad and Brangelina Jolie, Robbie Williams and the main event himself, Captain James Tiberius Kirk, William Shatner. More photos and a link to a video after the jump. –Martin Lynch
