If your Net experience is anything like mine then you start each day by downloading around 70 emails, 69 of which turn out to be spam, phishing mails, stock alerts, Viagra marketing, meds and - obviously unneeded - penis extensions. Ahem.
BT is apparently miffed about the whole thing and has set out to destroy all spam on contact with a fully automated spam buster designed to tackle professional spammers and botnets. Gartner estimates that 80% of all email is spam – that’s a hefty 6.5 billion emails a day. Aimed at appeasing its own broadband customers the only question has to be why the hell it has taken so long? And shouldn’t all providers be doing more? The system is based on Content Forensics from StreamShield Networks which will scans millions of emails a day.
