PS3 and Wii have had their own reasons for UK launch delays and unit shortages but Xbox 360 wins the style prize: hijacking. Last week a truck full of the cherished 360s worth around £750,000 were hijacked shortly after leaving the depot in Staffordshire.
Ironically, there was a another 360 consignment hijack at the same depot a week ago when units worth £260,000 were nabbed. Anyone else thinking ‘inside job’ raise your right hand now. Crooks waved down the truck, beat up the driver and drove away. The depot is conducting internal interviews now. A Microsoft spokesperson, speaking with The Times Online, was characteristically quick to get a plug in for the console:
“The Xbox 360 is Microsoft’s latest, most up-to-date console. It was one of the first next generation consoles because of its features and the power it holds. It is quite an in- demand gadget for Christmas.” -Martin Lynch
