We managed to catch a glimpse of this a little while back but the one above is a lot more refined and is looking like the final version.
Lucky gits will see it CES 2007 in Las Vegas next month and I’ll be one of them so expect a few more shots and details then. I really like SideShow, not just for the little cool screen on the outside of the lid but because we’ll all be able to access certain features without the hassle of booting up the whole notebook. It will periodically scan for emails and other info without booting up the system and anything new can be viewed on the wee display.
According to PortalPlayer, who made the technology for the Asus W5Fe, it will only add around £30 to the cost a notebook. Obviously, in the UK that will become £100. Who cares – damn useful.-Martin Lynch

For those – and I include myself here – that think the cinema can only truly be recreated with a decent projector, I’m happy to announce that Panasonic’s PT-AE1000E HD projector is now shipping in the UK.
News of this has been knocking around for the last month or so but it’s always good to know when desirable gadgets are going to launch on your own doorstep. Granted, it’s an ugly mother but it’s under the hood what counts. At £3,500, it’s the next step or two up from entry-level 720p high definition projectors, but that’s because it supports 1080p and has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
The claimed contrast ratio is 11,000:1 and it has a Lumens brightness rating of 1100 – which is good but not great. That said, you will get a crisp, clean HD image topping 100ins from just 3m away. Nice.
Full specs after the jump.-Martin Lynch

Japanese company Princeton has deposited some rather anemic 256MB~1GB thumb sticks onto the land of Japan. To make up for the lack of storage, they're branding this with the "Seven Angels" label and including software that's based on the Psychic abilities of Masako Mitaki. This lady's apparently a big psychic over there in Ashcraft land.
I don't think any US company would get away with this, but I guess the equivalent would be to feature Miss Cleo on an IOmega Zip Disk. Let's hope this post preempts any companies that were considering it. – Jason Chen

Get them while you can. DailyMotionMovieVids is letting people stream movies straight off the Internet. Granted, most of them are filmed with a not-so-good camcorder and look a little blurry, but if you don't mind it'll save you from buying that $12 ticket and they have a decent selection of old and new. – Louis Ramirez

It's not often that a CEO is honest about the products they sell. Luckily for us, Seagate's Bill Watkins did just that.
Let's face it, we're not changing the world. We're building a product that helps people buy more crap - and watch porn.
Don't forget pirating media, Bill. – Jason Chen
