panasonic_ae1000.jpg For those – and I include myself here – that think the cinema can only truly be recreated with a decent projector, I’m happy to announce that Panasonic’s PT-AE1000E HD projector is now shipping in the UK.

News of this has been knocking around for the last month or so but it’s always good to know when desirable gadgets are going to launch on your own doorstep. Granted, it’s an ugly mother but it’s under the hood what counts. At £3,500, it’s the next step or two up from entry-level 720p high definition projectors, but that’s because it supports 1080p and has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The claimed contrast ratio is 11,000:1 and it has a Lumens brightness rating of 1100 – which is good but not great. That said, you will get a crisp, clean HD image topping 100ins from just 3m away. Nice.
