AMD's first 65-nanometer Athlon 64 processors have arrived. Codenamed Brisbane, the dual-core chips mark the company's transition from 90nm CPUs to 65nm. Essentially this means AMD's chips will be more energy efficient and better suited for small form factor PCs.
The four processors launching today range from the 2.1GHz 4000+ ($169) to the 2.6GHz 5000+ ($301). Despite the range in performance, all of the processors will have a 65W TDP and they'll each have a 2x512KB L2 cache. AMD is still playing catch up, however, as Intel continues to enjoy the lead with their Core 2 Duos. – Louis Ramirez

Toshiba announced it will ship a 100GB 1.8-inch hard disk next month, the largest yet of this size. The little drive spins at 4200rpm and happens to be exactly the right size to fit into an Apple iPod.
Although Toshiba was careful not to mention anything about its relationship with Apple and how its 1.8-inch disks occupy the interiors of Apple's 80GB iPods, this is some pretty solid evidence that we'll be seeing a 100GB iPod soon, perhaps around the same time we see the new iPhone. – Charlie White

After being delayed multiple times, Sony's BDP-S1 Blu-ray is finally available for purchase [in the US]. They should be in stores now, if not later this week.
Sony's BDP-S1 has 1080p and HDMI outputs, along with the ability to play back just about all Blu-ray format discs out there now. If you're looking to save £220, and can actually find one in stock, a PlayStation 3 can also play back Blu-ray movies in 1080p and has HDMI as well. – Jason Chen

Good news in the case of James Kim and his missing family, as his wife and daughters were found earlier today and were airlifted to a local hospital. Their conditions have not been released.
James Kim left the car on foot two days ago to seek help and has not been found, the official said. The search for him continues.
Not much else in terms of details was given in the press conference, but if you have any tips or any leads, call their Pacific Northwest call center at 1-800-452-7888. Let's hope they find James soon as well.

Despite—or maybe because of—one analyst raising a furor with comments about a PS4 being unlikely, Sony's VP of Technology says a PS4 will be launched by Sony. He throws down:
To say that there will be no PS4 because of a management change is a bit far fetched.
VP Paul Holman also reiterates the PS3's "processing power" and that it's not really a gaming console as much as an all-in-one entertainment center. He said the PS3 could possibly come with a keyboard and mouse to let users easily access the net or use third-party OSes installed on the machine. Definitely interesting, the way Sony's not completely hating on hacks the way Microsoft is. – Jason Chen

A flower that dances doesn’t have to be a scary flashback from a bad acid trip although you might wish it was if you owned this.
The Mi Flower interacts with your tunes thanks to an in-built speaker, illuminated flower petals, moving leaves and an expression-making LCD face. Aww. So cute - so naff.
Just hook it up to your music source and watch it do its swaying/bendy thing. Slow songs result in some gentle movement and mood lighting while Metallica [early] should have this cracker hopping off your shelf.
It won’t be making it past my door but then we all know someone dumb enough to coo with affection over something like this. Get your £30 ready now.- Martin Lynch

Sci-fi kitchens, you gotta love them. In fact, they are even better when they actually exist in the real world, like this super slick bubble kitchen from Italian designers, Sheer.
The Kitchen Sphere is a real eye-catcher, there’s no doubt. Just press a button and the top half raises to reveal everything you need to cook up a storm. Underneath, it’s a marvel of design and engineering. Built from carbon fibre and steel, it houses an extractor (in the hood), built-in double sink by DuPont, three infrared ceramic cooking hobs and a fourth one that uses a removable (genuine) lava stone.
Don’t forget the all important bottle coolers (x3), pull out table/counter, chairs and swing out trolleys/bin holders with anti-odour and anti-bacterial devices.
I want one. I can say that because there is no price and Christmas is a time for dreaming (and being disappointed) after all. Jump now for more photos. -Martin Lynch

Think of space food and images of pills and pink mush in sealed baggies spring to mind.
However, it seems I have been grossly mislead by sci-fi TV, and things have moved on in the last few years with world class chefs now being recruited to recreate their masterpieces for the space jockeys on the European Space Station.
Alain Ducasse is the famed chef that has taken on the challenge of creating haute cuisine that can be used for celebratory meals in space. Thirteen recipes containing, un-mushed ingredients like quails, chicken, swordfish olives, tomatoes and the rest are prepared in special tins that just need reheating on the other end. One happy chomper said:
“It was absolutely delicious. It was a really nice treat for a Sunday evening.”
The best bit though has to be having your grub delivered by rocket. Hop over to Gizmag for the full, mouthwatering menu.- Martin Lynch
