LG, purveyors of mobile phone porn in the form of the Chocolate, is teaming up with design house Prada to develop a new phone for release early next year. So, nothing new there then: phone manufacturer meets fashion house who rebadges some ‘limited’ edition of the same thing with a slightly new look and vastly inflated price tag. Right? They claim ‘not so’.

The companies claim this deal goes far beyond looks and will boast a touch-screen interface which will consign design-unfriendly keys to the bin. According to the official material:

The collaboration focused on the key elements inside the phone, such as software, user interface and music as well as its look, for example design and packaging. The result is a unique, sophisticated and elegant phone, with an advanced touch interface which eliminates the conventional keypad. The initial launch is planned for early 2007, with distribution starting in Europe (firstly in Italy, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany), followed by countries in Asia such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore.
