The Fourth Peugeot Design Competition has just kicked off and people are being invited to choose what they think should make it to the final.
The variety of concept cars on offer is quite stunning and there are 30 to choose from, out of 4,000 submissions. I’m quite partial to the ground hugging E-Motion above although I still can’t see me getting more than 30 metres out of my driveway before crappy local roads ripped that undercarriage right off.
In 2005, the cute and cuddly Moovie (see it after the jump) clinched the title so it will be interesting to see if eco-friendly two-seaters, sports cars or family-oriented Transformer-type cars will steal the show.
Practicality is not really a limiting factor for many of these designs and despite the originality, we’ll be lucky to see any of these of in production before we start queuing for our pensions. Still, it’s good to dream. Jump now to see some shots of last year’s winner. -Martin Lynch

I love how everything futuristic these days is shiny, it really is pretty.
I can't wait till they start producing cars that are good looking without making them expensive.
All of the lower end cars seem so unattractive, how hard can it be?
Instead of making all these concept cars shiney, sleek, and powerful how about we come up with a concept car that utilizes alternative power sources or engines that are more fuel efficient?
That E-motion car in the main photo is designed for using an electric motor, as many are of this year's entries.

I think it would be pretty cool if they made cars that you don't have to reverse in. Lately, in one of my Design classes, our teacher asked us to draw unigue future car, and I came up with the idea of having a car that you don't reverse in. Instead of reversing you simply spin around in your car seat after pressing a button and taking the steering wheel and you have a dash board behind you as well. It would make reversing so much easier, and less dangerous, because there would be no need for reversing.

what are u thinkin the ball car is crap and no one will buy it. it looks like a flattened ball and u probbably gonnna make a sport version and it will look crap and u wont be able to drive it over bumps and speed bumps u will have to make it have graet suspension and it will last a month the most it will probably rot and the engine will go o-30 in 5.9 seconds.

first of all the price is 12.8 million. I wanted to buy one. So i went to wall mart and looked in the school supply area for pencil sharpeners. sadly they dident have one i could sleep in. so i went to the car dealer ship and asked for a tire. they said what size . i Said one that i could reproduce in. They also said i was out of luck. so i got pissed off. after my menicle rage that went on for about 2 seconds. I went to the internet. I looked it up and found out it was a car that 2 peaple are needed. It goes as fast as the outher person can push. Of course a hill is needed and also remember that there are no breaks. so there isent any real problem with the car. Heck if a terrost made it little bigger he could role rite into he wighthouse.
Yer theese cars are pretty cool but the point is that there not made for families they are made for speed and power

Which one are you people going ga-ga for? I like the stylings of both the long low-rider and the bubble car. The reality is neither of these will ever make it to market. Not unless a private car company that seeks to fill niche markets makes it. The look of all "futuristic" cars is governed by the climate in which the designer was raised and by the terms of the sketch competition.
Its no surprise that future cars from fifty years ago had many of the same stylings of regular cars of their era. Few people have been able to see beyond the ordianry to make truly impressive looking automobiles or other motor craft.
The low-rider would never stand a hance against speed bumps or the slightest imperfection in the road. The same is true for the little bubble car. Visibility and safety do not appear to be important to the sketch artists who come up with these designs.
How are they powered? How do you steer with wheels tht only spin? I see no way for these to provide directional control.
this will never work these vehicles would never ever work, you would have to lift them at least to a hight that wouldnt scrape the ground on a pebble. no driveway abilities, no parking lots, only cirtain stores, where the ground doesnt rais up and inch or you might get high centered. sincerely... peace out
