First Video Of Amazon Founder’s Private Spacecraft January 4, 2007

The founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, has taken the whole ‘mine is bigger than yours’ argument to a new level by showing off his personal, reusable spacecraft. It's been kept tightly under wraps for some time but video on the Blue Origin site shows the cone-shaped New Shepherd taking off, reaching a height of 85m and landing. It was shot sneakily back in November 2006 and it looks cool. According to Bezos:
“We’re working, patiently and step-by-step, to lower the cost of spaceflight so that many people can afford to go and so that we humans can better continue exploring the solar system. Accomplishing this mission will take a long time, and we’re working on it methodically. We believe in incremental improvement and in keeping investments at a pace that's sustainable. Slow and steady is the way to achieve results, and we do not kid ourselves into thinking this will get easier as we go along. Smaller, more frequent steps drive a faster rate of learning, help us maintain focus, and give each of us an opportunity to see our latest work fly sooner.”

ET didn’t go home after all. He just hung around France for awhile, freaking out the locals and now the French are about to expose his peek-a-boo antics on the Internet.
The French National Space Agency is planning to put its archive of more than 1,600 reported UFO sightings on the Internet from next month. According to the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES), it has more than 6,000 documents related to “strange sightings” and there have been 1,200 UFO sightings over the last 30 years.
Whatever about the validity of these ‘little green men’ reports, you can be damn sure that every Mulder and Scully wannabe will be there on day one to make first contact.-Martin Lynch

For those three or four of you out there who have managed to make it through Christmas with cash still burning a hole a in your pocket, you might want the latest in luxury iPod add-ons.
This is the George, from Chestnut Hill Sound, and is designed not only to massage your keen auditory senses but its £350 price tag will gladly blow a gaping hole in your New Year’s Resolution not to spend any more money on unnecessary gadgets.
The product is being touted as the “first digital audio system to combine an iPod music playback system, full feature wireless remote, AM/FM radio and alarm system in one product.”
The [big] remote also acts as the face panel which is a novelty but the omission of DAB functionality is glaring in a product that costs this much. Some retro wood finishes are also available for an extra £30, if the you have any change left over.
For those on more sensible budgets, check out the less expensive, non-radio, yet stylish Amplifi dock from Griffin.
