nintendo_wii_1.jpg I thought that the first fatality to emerge from the console launches would be:

a. Someone dropping a big fat and heavy PS3 on their friend’s head while crossing the living room

b. Death by Wiimote: Airborne Wiimotes from the sweaty palms of excited players felling family members over the Christmas period.

The truth is even more bizarre though. A competition at a local US radio station to win a Wii ended in the tragic death of one contestant. In a contest called “Hold Your Wee for a Wii" [cute] contestants were invited down to the station to drink as much water as possible without taking a whiz.

For 28-year old Jennifer Strange, it proved too much. After competing alongside almost 20 others by drinking 8oz bottles of water every 15 minutes, she left the competition and later rang in sick to work complaining of ‘terrible pain’.

She was found dead later that day and the official report concluded that her death was consistent with water intoxication.-Martin Lynch

Ahahaha.. Jennifer "Strange"? How weird :P

But no, no.. RIP. Why would you ever participate in such an awful competition? There's little worse pain than being desperate to go, imo!!

Water intoxication..what the fck..

Well it is the radio stations fault. Water toxicity is hardly an unknown phenomenon, that's how a lot of people die when taking ecstasy, they end up drinking too much water as they are scared of getting dehydrated and it raises the body temperature. Anyone who forces people to drink loads of water without looking into it beforehand deserves to go to jail although the contestants themselves were just as idiotic to agree to do this to themselves in the first place.

I feel sorry for the woman's family. I'm guessing she really believed that the radio station knew that nothing bad would happen and that all would be well... Not her fault that they didn't get their facts straight.

But no, she's dead because of some stupid contest that is essentially built on nothing more than an immature joke that outlived its welcome months after the Wii's name was revealed.

That's BS!! There's no such thing as water intoxication!! The worst water could do is dilute your sodium until you have low sodium. Somebody was bored at Gizmondo....
