lg prada.jpg If you can’t bother waiting for iPhone, you could always opt for LG’s Prada phone, being touted as the first fully-touchscreen phone. Expect some controversy with that claim from the fat, PDA/phone quarter.

The Prada KE850 weighs 85g, is 12mm thick [a weenie bit thicker than the iPhone] and boasts an extra wide LCD for all that touchy-feely goodness. The screen offers a decent resolution of 400 x 240 pixels widescreen and the in-built 2MP camera can record video at 30fps. There’s no doubt it’s pretty but it’s not 3G and has no Internet capabilities which is fine for those that don’t want the world crammed into a single device.

At almost £400 though, it doesn’t come cheap, but that’s fashion for you: style over just about everything else. Jump now for more specs.-Martin Lynch

I assume that's a physical (rather than touchscreen) button or two at the bottom of the phone so it's hardly "fully touchscreen" on that basis. If they mean that the screen to case ration makes it "fully touchscreen" then they should try comparing it to the 3 year old Nokia 7710. It's more modern in some ways but has no web browser. I hope one of the phone companies manages to push the boat out a bit soon. It's going to be embarassing if Apple beats them to it.

"Expect some controversy with that claim from the fat, PDA/phone quarter."

I don't recall you saying the same of the iPhone, so why are you saying it of the LG which was released before the Apple unit?

Apple has not claimed that iphone is the "the first completely touch screen mobile phone". LG has - in exactly those words. That's why I questioned it - not the product itself, but the marketing.

Now this is fashion with a the word class bouncing all over it, i love this new phone from LG and i want one now why do i have to wait but then again the iphone is very nice as well why do you have to confuse me.

Didn't Jobs say "we're introducing the touchscreen to consumers just like we did the mouse and the clickwheel"? I'm paraphrasing of course because I can't find the transcription, but in similar words he intentionally gave the impression that Apple were giving us something we had not yet got.

He's obviously living in his own world.

Mark, IIRC he was talking about multi-touch along with the touchscreen. There's no way Apple could claim to be the first with touchscreen technology but as far as I know, Apple is the first with a multitouch UI.

Tell me, what is the point of having a brick phone if it doesn't have internet capabilities? I was interested until I heard that - not now.
