Anyone remember when CDs arrived and we were told they would last forever and couldn’t be scratched? Exactly.
Sony maintains that its Blu-ray discs are built for a lot of punishment too and someone has decided to video test the theory. The folks at Joystiq decided to take the freebie HD movie bundled with PS3’s – Talladega Nights - The Ballad of Ricky Bobby – and give it a right going over. Personally, I didn’t dislike the movie that much but in the name of science…
That said, while entertaining, I really don’t see most Blu-ray discs taking this much abuse in real life.
Except maybe when you’re drunk and in the mood for some DIY knife, pizza slicer and steel wool action.-Martin Lynch
