No, this is not joke, even though it is. Microsoft is offering, via Amazon, limited edition copies of Vista signed by Bill Gates himself. Has software become that cool yet? Did I miss a meeting? Here’s the blurb:
Signed by Bill Gates himself: Windows Vista Ultimate is Microsoft's powerful new operating system for the home and business user. Thinking of upgrading? Get this limited-availability Signature Edition signed by the world's richest man and own a little piece of history.
I can’t verify whether or not Billy may have shed some valuable skin flakes on each box while signing or whether his signature was embossed on the box by a more mechanical process. Can you picture the world’s richest human inking 20,000 Vista boxes?
What I can verify though is that there are just 20,000 copies on offer for $259 to pre-order here and I expect they’ll sell like hotcakes.-Martin Lynch

This may be his last project before he steps down and its a chance to own a little limited edition memento. No harm done. You don't want it, don't buy it....simple.
If Jobs did it, i doubt there will be such disbelief.
Yes this is available and not only on AMAZON, I work in a large retail store in a large city and we have had this copy for 12 days, It is real It is Available.
And it is a silver emossed etching!
