I like things that make my life easier, as opposed to just gadgets/tech for the sake of gadgets/tech. Although, I've been known to buy useless rubbish too.

This is Kingston’s microSD Dual Adapter Pack and you are going to see a lot of these arrive this week, especially with the 3GSM show on. Sandisk announced one yesterday too.

If you have a newer, style-phone with a microSD card slot you will probably find this useful for swapping material from the phone to MP3 players, cameras, PCs etc.

The pack consists of a 1GB microSD card, a microSD to miniSD card adapter and a microSD to full size SD card adapter. And the best bit? It costs around £13. Martin Lynch

For you health nuts/DIY people out there, this here is a way to have delicious salty snacks without having to give money to the Frito-Lay obesity-promoting conglomerate. It's a make-your-own-chip setup, complete with special slicer for turning potatoes into chips. Simply stick the thin slices in, microwave for six minutes, and you've got chemical-free chips for your enjoyment.

Don't forget to add nuclear-orange cheese powder and lots of grease! That's how you know it's a snack and not some healthy BS of the variety your sanctimonious neighbor would give to your kids instead of candy on Halloween. –Adam Frucci

It turns out that cracking the high definition disc formats was much easier than was originally thought. The processing key that can unravel the DRM on all HD DVD and Blu-ray discs has been found by a clever encryption fighter named arnezami.

It gets better:

samsung ultra editon II 10 9.jpg Samsung rolled out the official red carpet for its latest Ultra II handsets at 3GSM yesterday, referring to the 10.9 as the ‘crown jewel in the pack’ [pictured].

The series comprises the slim sliders, the Ultra Edition 10.9 (U600) and the Ultra Edition 12.1 (U700), a metallic clamshell, Ultra Edition 9.6 (U300) and a candy bar model, the Ultra Edition 5.9 (U100).

Samsung says the Ultra Edition II phones are slimmer and stronger than the first edition models, which is good to know. They boast 3MP cameras and come with Samsung’s Optimized Power Usage Solution (OPUS) which promises a 10% increase in talk time, 30% power saving and 10% more battery capacity.

Music lovers will be happy to know that the phones come with a digital power amp developed by Bang & Olufsen.

The 5.9 (U100) is touted as the world’s slimmest phone (?) but this changes so often it’s hard to keep up.

The new Ultra Edition II phones are certainly lookers but will they debunk the LG Chocolate, which managed to sell an outrageous 7.5m units in Europe alone last year?-Martin Lynch

All hail the Scouts! It’s not all about rubbing sticks you know and earning merit badges for helping old ladies pack their shopping. That said, this one certainly deserves the MP3 Merit Badge.
