Trekkie alert. For those of you that collect movie memorabilia, then you’ll be interested to know that Spock’s space suit from the original Star Trek movie has just sold on eBay for $10,100. The rest of us can go back to sleep, safe in the knowledge that we just saved £5,000.
I’m not sure if that’s a lot for a Trek suit but I’d imagine not. The suit was worn by Spock on leaving the Enterprise to pull off a mind-meld with the V’Ger Probe. There were, surprisingly, only 14 bidders. It would be therefore overstating it if it could be called a bidding war, especially since bids stayed below the $5,000- mark for the first 10 bids.
Just before closing the hard-core collectors emerged and within four bids the price topped $10k. See lots of photos and details here. Personally, I'd prefer the Star Trek Home Cinema, which cost just $7,500. -Martin Lynch
