Sony’s taking another kicking this week, especially after the whole “PS3 will not play most PS2 titles” debacle. Maybe it can redeem itself somewhat, if this rumour comes to pass.
Like all rumours though, have the salt ready, but this is certainly a nice one. The PS3 has an in-built upscaler and according to one deep throat, a firmware update for the emulator this summer will see the PS3 offering 720p/1080i upscaling on certain PS2 titles. To start, the number of games will be few but Sony is aiming to offer emulation for more games in batches.
If true [fingers and toes crossed] the PS3 – offering Blu-ray playback and upscaling of older games in the one box - might make it attractive after all. But only maybe. Will keep an eye on this development and keep you posted.-Martin Lynch

Screw 'em, I'm beyond caring now.
blerh, does anyone actually care.
Hmm, I think thats just a rumour... Is that even possible though? Thats like playing a normal DVD in a HD DVD Player, isn't it?
Maybe 'HD Equivelant' but that still isn't HD!
Sony are full of bs most of the time!
Your loss then.
Plenty of people care, and despite what Microsoft have programmed you to think, PS3 is selling well...
