File Sharing, Like Drugs and Dissent, Supports Terrorism March 15, 2007

A 2006 report by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office called "Filesharing Programs and Technological Features to Induce Users to Share" was just released to the general public yesterday, and it contains some interesting governmental observations as to the dangers of digital piracy.
It's 80 pages long and I am far too busy/lazy to read through the entire thing, but it looks like the general gist of it is that file sharing supports terrorism and corrupts our children. It claims that peer-to-peer networks increase the chances of government workers sharing sensitive data, which is kind of a stupid argument (let's ban phones, while we're at it, so they can't call people and tell them secrets).
An even more backwards argument is that by exposing kids to P2P software they are at a higher risk to pirate music, therefore be sued by copyright holders. The bad news about all this? It will make people protecting their copyrights seem antagonistic. Actually, the copyright holders that are being antagonistic are the ones making themselves seem that way, chief. If any of you out there with too much free time on your hands wants to comb through this beast for some fun quotes, pass em along and we'll post the best ones. –Adam Frucci

""let's ban phones, while we're at it, so they can't call people and tell them secrets).""
Well, I was quite surprised last week to learn about the French government banning citizens from using their cellphones to tape violence acts, supposedly due to the happy slapping phenomena. How more shortsighted can people get?
Anyway...

Yes I agree with the staments made the U.S goverment 'I should keep my children away from p2p networks' and all that sort of thing, because quite obviously it is funding groups of terrorist which I have never seen, and polluting peoples heads with 'Better Informatoin and Knowledge' than you find on any t.v channel. I believe I should trust this trigger happy Mob of enthusiastic killers much more than my own common sense.
As a cause of action I have now locked my children in the basement and will be feeding them ready salted square crisps untill the problem has been resolved. This is diabolical! Square crisp are the only ones I can find which will fit under the door.
much thanks for your enlightenment. I can only wish, next time you stop giving this information via this web site and go back to good old stone engraving. Yes this is because I am scared of a terror attack, I may carry on reading your site and my eye's could start to conjeal or maybe even explode!
Now I will go back to soiling my pants with skids mark as far as the M11 and wait for the next decission made by our preasidents. After they have all finished sniffing cocaigne I am sure they will find us a great way to make the world a better place.

so the worst thing that could exist is p2p software running on osx :) that's what all terrorists do...
