Blu-ray Association to The World: We Will Own You In Three Years March 16, 2007

Read more Blu-ray

Apparently Sony and its cohorts are certain that they will own the market in just three years. At least, this is what Frank Simonis, the Blu-ray Disc Association's European chairman, has said today at CeBIT:

"Within three years it will just be Blu-ray"

Frank is not only talking about beating HD DVD, but also replacing DVD entirely. In three years. Thanks to "a plan", which includes the amazing success of the PS3. Apparently, they are doing stand-up comedy mornings in Hanover and we are, like, totally missing them. – Jesus Diaz

Comments

That's exactly what VHS said about Betamax all those years ago.

It's like Star Wars all over again.

Bullshit! That's all i've got to say about this. I work in a well known retail store, I sell TV's daily! I had 2 in 15 customers ask about blueray! I mean, has anyone heard of SkyBlueray? Nope? Cause theres no such thing! Personally, I prefare HD! Especially after that gadget road show I was at on tuesday! Some of the things you can do with the new toshiba HD dvd player coming out soon! Damnnnn! :P

pure genius from Jesus Diaz - good work :D , loving the reference, and the colours =D

Watch out, they mean it and they will do it. Worth, value and real performance mean nothing to this juggernaut. As they freely admit its all about ownership, ownership of content and ownership of the unquestioning masses and ownership of YOU. Be afraid, be very afraid, between microshite and owny your digital future has already been branded.

Customers only care about the price and quality. Blueray can only dominate the market if their player and disc are cheaper than hd-dvd and possibly current DVD.

Just see why DVD is so popular nowadays. Its player and disc are cheaper than VHS. Its quality is undoubtedly better.
