Fire ‘em up boys, another game is to get the Hollywood treatment so you may as well not hold your breath and go back to the superior game instead.
While many kiddie gamers will be jumping for joy that Gears of War, the hugely successful alien kill-fest for the Xbox 360, is heading for the big screen other, wiser gamers will be nodding knowingly and smirking with derision.
If you ask them why, they’ll just raise a hand and start counting off fingers: Doom (bad but not excrement), Streetfighter (mmm, Kylie) Silent Hill (yawn), Mario Bros. (excrement), Bloodrayne (arrgh!!)…..
However, New Line Cinema has won the bidding war to movie-fy the game, not just because of a cheque with lots of zeroes, but because of a 21-page story outline by Stuart Beattie, who wrote 'Collateral' and the forthcoming '30 Days of Night.'
While there is a glimmer of hope with that news I’ll not be waiting earnestly. I would like to be surprised though. I wonder who’ll direct? Maybe Uwe Boll is free.……-Martin Lynch

Bling Fashion At Cebit 2007 March 21, 2007

What’s a technology trade show without some USB bling? Pretec did the honours at Cebit 2007 with a silver/gold pendant called the “iDisk Vogue” targeted at geeks with girlfriends that will see-through the technology bit to the deeply buried romantic notions underneath.
Maybe it’s at times like these – you know, when guys think that girls will really like gold-wrapped technology that isn’t a phone – that it’s time to back away from the credit card. Just drop the technology angle, stick with heart and flower-shapes and, most importantly, keep the gold/silver cladding since it’s not always about pure romance.
This stick comes in sizes up to 2GB and supports the usual operating systems. You can find them online for a very reasonable £22, which makes them less "Bling - I love you" and more "Bling-Lite - I like you. Can we shag now?"-Martin Lynch

Home cinema has been getting a makeover in recent times. On the one hand there’s the wacky Star Trek home cinema installation and on the other, there’s the mobile R2D2 entertainment system.
But some people would like to take things a little further. I know, let’s put a cinema on wheels and, even better, disguise it as a Fiat 500. Above is the winner of the Fiat 500 design competition, in the Everywhere category, entitled Drivin Cinema by the UK’s Tim Thornton.
The car would house a projector in the front – disguised as another light – speakers and , on the inside, a digital camera and DVD player along with a host of connectors so that users could hook up any entertainment device (ipod, consoles etc.) they like for showing movies, games and photos on walls at night time. Kitted out with extra lights, the Fiat 500 would be an all-singing, all-dancing mobile entertainment system. Great! But would it be any good to drive?
