Lists always make for good reading, if for no other reasons than you can feel good about your own technology and you can argue with people about what should have made it in.
This is PC World’s list of the Top 10 worst PCs of all time and is sure to spark the odd debate, not to mention furious emails from certain vendors. The winner of this worst series was Packard Bell, not just for a particular model, but for desktop PCs made between 1994-96, which is rather damning. If bottom-feeder could be applied to a brand, this one ruled the sea-bed in reliability surveys. The full list looks like this:
* 10. Dell Dimension 4600 (2003)
* 9. New Internet Computer (2000)
* 8. eMachines eTower 366c (1999)
* 7. Commodore VIC 20 (1981)
* 6. Texas Instruments TI-99/4 (1979)
* 5. IBM PS/1 (1990-1994)
* 4. Apple III (1980-1984)
* 3. Coleco Adam (1983)
* 2. Mattel Barbie PC (1999-2000)
* 1. Packard Bell PCs (1986-1996)
Like all lists, it’s probably missing a few and I’m sure there are some of you on this side of the globe that would like to nominate a few desktop disasters of your own. Be my guest.-Martin Lynch

PC World should know - they sold most of them!
"The winner of this worst series was Packard Bell, not just for a particular model, but for desktop PCs made between 1994-96"
yet the list says:
"* 1. Packard Bell PCs (1986-1996)"
So was it for 10 years or just 2?
Chris
If you read the PC World article you'll see that it says PB PCs were pretty bad all along but especially bad between 94-96. I think that's what the blog is saying.
Hello from America.
I had a Packard Bell with a 166Mhz Pentium in 1996. It was my first Desktop. This thing was HORRIBLE. It came as no surprise when I found out that they had been sued for using old parts and passing them off as new. It acted like a dinosaur when it was brand new.
