Following hot on the heels of the worlds most expensive mobile phone, the £3.5m bra and the diamond-encrusted baby soother, we have the diamond-studded cricket. Cricket, a usually sedate affair involving sunburn and sandwiches, is in the news right now for all the wrong reasons and to tell the truth, I’m not sure if this £35,000 ball will brighten things up.

There are two of these, which tends to be the traditional number for balls, which will be presented to the best Indian cricketer and best interim player in the world cup going on at the moment.

Each ball is comprised of 295.6g of yellow gold and is studded with 5,728 natural diamonds with a total weight of 31.5 carats. The lady weighing this one up is Bollywood actress Mahima Chaudhary.
