PS3 Sales Plummet 82% April 05, 2007

Just a week on from breaking console sales records in the UK, sales of the PS3 have plummeted by 82%. Now, while I would expect a marked drop-off after the initial flurry of sales activity from the eager beavers, I think an 82% fall-off is a bit on the high side.
Recently, it was all champagne as Sony claimed that it had flogged a very impressive 165,000 units in the UK in just two days. Chart Track has now confirmed the nosedive but it’s probably too early to write the PS3 off. Sony's not commenting.
Still, if you look at the sales of its top titles MotorStorm and Resistance: Fall of Man, they’ve dropped by an alarming 60% too. Add this to the PS3 being owned in both Japan and the US by Nintendo’s Wii and you’d have to say that Sony’s going to have to work very hard to make the PS3 the next console king.-Martin Lynch

Woot, hopefully the message will get across!
what are the sales number compared against ? is it 80% down from the rush weeks ?
Give it 1-2 years and the price of the PS3 will drop, ownership will then become common and widespread and Playstation will once again be the top console. Gauranteed.
165,000 down 82% So they're still outselling the 360, and the wii (not like nintendo have the stock in the uk anyway).
Lets hope not Pierre im rather happy sales have plummeted Microsoft have worked pretty damn hard this past year building up a good base for the 360. Sony however have a nasty habit of spreading false facts about the ps3 and then having the cheek to say it was the biggest console launch in history on the news was the biggest peice or rubbish ive heard in a long time. Xbox 360 all the way
They have dropped the price on the PS3 in the UK now too :)
Sony's treatment of the UK & overal European market has been pretty poor - very delayed release, and when they do finally launch here it needs a firmware update because of poor backwards compatibility.
Added to that the big price tag, and you have a company taking the mickey out of it's buyers.
We'll be waiting a good year before looking to buy a PS3 - by then the proce will be much lower, it should work with the games we play, and maybe they'll get a couple of the other issues sorted out such as different sized HD versions.
:)
Nintendo have done the impossible. Who would have thought it?
The PS3 has been an epic disaster. Sony's arrogance have bitten them big time.
Go Nintendo, Go!
what do you mean "hopefully the message will get across"
