Geek with an huge ego? This peripheral is for you. This mouse sits atop a bicycle and LCD screen. It will pedal based on how fast you type and uh, well, that is it. It plugs into a USB port and pedals as you type. This toy is available for $40, and you are better off buying a real mouse and genetically altering its muscles to run on a wheel as you type, which would be a hell of a lot cooler. –Travis Hudson

The PS3 might still be waiting for that ‘killer’ game but the Xbox 360 has had Halo and Halo 2, and now players around the globe will soon get a chance to test out the high-def Halo 3.

The public beta of the online multiplayer side of the game goes live on May 16 and will run for three weeks until June 7. The game itself launches in the Autumn.

Of course, there are provisos. You need a specially marked copy of Crackdown first, or have qualified through the “Rule of Three” or other regional promotions. You also need your Xbox Gold Live account, which most Halo 2 addicts – and there’s millions of them – already have primed and waiting.

There will be three levels to check out - Valhalla, High Ground and Snowbound – as well as new vehicles, guns, grenades and other methods of destruction. And yes, the mysterious ‘X’ button will ready for use.

Halo 3 content manager, Frank O'Connor says:

“There are a number of new features you’ll get to test out – including a new grenade type, a completely different class of weapon and some of the enhanced online functionality we plan to bring to the game – but it should be noted, a lot of secret features are hidden in this Beta. We’re keeping a lot of our powder dry for Fall. In May, when your firing the Spiker, sniping vehicles with the Spartan Laser and sticking fools with the Brute Spike grenade, remember that it’s just a peek-a-boo fraction of what’s to come.”

The portable DVD player market is like a popular pub before closing time these days: too many competing for the attention of too few. And, with portable media players (PMPs) starting to take hold, is there any need for another dedicated DVD player?

Sony thinks it has something different to offer, with the Exorcist-like DVP-FX850. Just announced in Japan, but due over here in June, this player comes with a nice looking 8in screen that can swivel through 180 degrees.

The whole thing is neatly packaged at 226 x 32 x 165mm, weighs in at around 1Kg and promises 6 hours battery life to go with the crisp video images on its 800 x 480 pixel resolution display. It has a USB port which means it’s not completely useless for handling digital content via sticks and external drives. Thankfully, it also supports DivX.

That said, and as good-looking as it is, is it worth the proposed £225 price tag?-Martin Lynch

evesham 9.2in lcd tv.jpg Evesham’s bucking the trend on this one with a tiny 9.2in widescreen LCD TV, designed to be portable and cheap.

The TV-930 with it’s oddly-sized 9.2in screen is designed to be usable - without squinting – as a second TV in home. The fact that it weighs less than 1Kg is also a bonus when it comes to moving it from room to room. The 12V cigarette power adaptor also makes it usable in cars and motor homes. It connects via the usual AV outputs to DVD players, games consoles or camcorders.

The TV measures 240 x 172 x 33mm and has a display resolution of 640 x 480 – nothing to write home about but, at £120, it could do well with people not that concerned with video quality. Full specs after the jump. -Martin Lynch
