projectiondesign m20.jpg

projectiondesign has carved a name as a maker of stunningly good, and hugely expensive home cinema projectors.

The Action! M20 though is a bit more accessible though to us normal folk at £3,500. Not cheap, I agree, especially since it’s only a 720p high-def projector and there’s excellent rival 720p models out there for a third of the price.

It does boast that it’s the first 720p projector to support Texas Instruments’ (creators of the DLP technology used in most projectors) BrilliantColor technology. That means three extra colours on the 7-speed colour wheel which promises smoother and superior colour reproduction.

Contrast is 4000:1 and brightness is 1000 ANSI Lumens. There’s no HDMI port but there is a DVI-D HDCP input that's HDMI compatible. For £3,500 I’d have preferred a couple of HDMI ports, if it's all the same. Still you can console yourself by being bale to get it in some odd projector colours including maranello blue and racing green.-Martin Lynch

audica mps-1 small.jpg Next time you’re stocking up on caviar and Bolli in Harrods, you might want to pop into its sound and vision department for one of these.

This is a special edition of the award-winning MPS-1 personal stereo system in slut-red. Glossy too. It boasts 20W from each aluminium speaker and comes with enough inputs, and USB and Firewire ports to make it easy to hook up to a wide variety kit, from portable music players to PCs and little TVs.

I do like that skinny minimalist remote control and the presence of the new scarlet iPod is merely there to show you that the reds are a perfect match. What a coincidence. Yours for £299. -Martin Lynch
