Ever since Cebit we’ve known that the famous Commodore brand was being resurrected and now, it has.
The company, now called Commodore Gaming, that once ruled the prehistoric console days is back as a high-end PC brand, hoping to carve out a new name as a supplier of top shelf gaming rigs. The prices are a good indication of where the brand is aiming since they start at £1,759 for the ‘gx’ and rocket swiftly north to £2,899 [starting price] for the king of the hill, ‘xx’. Still, not bad considering the components and individuality.
Gamers will be able to do a lot of customisation online before flexing their plastic friend, including picking the internal and external paint-job, with anti-scratch coating, of which there are 100 to choose from. They are certainly different.
All PCs will come with a 2-year warranty. There will be a ‘g’ and a ‘gs’ range too but they’ll only be for sale in a series of stores the company plans to open next month in the UK, France, Benelux and Germany. Ambitious stuff, indeed, considering just how cut-throat the PC sector is. Best of luck, though.-Martin Lynch
