Sim2 makes great projectors and for those of you that haven’t heard of the company it’s because it tends to occupy the rarefied atmosphere of the luxury end of home movies.
The company has just introduced its new flagship model, the Grand Cinema HT5000, claiming it to be the first 3-chip 1080p DLP projector. It uses three of the new 0.95in 1080p chipsets from Texas Instruments, claiming the result is brighter images, more saturated colours and greater contrast levels.
Custom-built 10-bit processing handles the video processing side of things and there’s a hugely impressive six HDMI inputs, as well as HD-SDI input, 2 x VGA inputs, DVI, RS-232, USB and LAN together with Component, S-Video and Composite connections.
Oh yeah, don’t for the six optional lenses but, that’s only if you can afford them after splashing out £33,000.-Martin Lynch
