I’m not sure where you like to sit in the cinema but it’s generally thought that somewhere in the last half of the seating – furthest from the screen – is the the best. Anywhere closer and you can’t see all of the screen and your eyes tend to flit around trying to catch the action.
However, if you like being overwhelmed, then this new JVC rear-projection HDTV is the one for you. Put this in any large living room - if you can - and you’d still be too close. It uses D-ILA technology for a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080, or Full HD.
And, if you’re worried about your electricity bill bringing on a coronary, don’t be, since JVC swears it only drinks as much as a 37in LCD TV. The same can’t be said for the price though. On sale now in Japan, it costs just over £27,000. That wee little thing in the bottom right hand corner is the remote. -Martin Lynch
