There are always compromises when you opt for any kind of laptop and top of the list, at least for gamers, is the fact that graphics performance on many laptops sucks.

There has been talk in the past about external graphics card solutions for laptops but the market is hardly swamped by this niche – although vital - offering. Graphics card vendor, MSI, has been showing off its first offering at Computex, in the shape of the Luxium.

This neat enclosure has been designed to house your favourite, screaming-hot desktop card - up to x16 PCI Express card - and then hooks up to your lappie via the ExpressCard interface. It needs to be connected to its own power source and sports USB and audio inputs.

While this is hardly pocket-friendly it does mean no more compromising on mobile gaming, and that’s all good. No price or launch date yet. -Martin Lynch
