Despite the high price and reports of sluggish sales recently, David Reeves, boss at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, says the PS3 has topped one million sales in Europe and other PAL territories. And in just nine and half weeks [without the help of Kim Basinger, too].
That’s not too shabby, despite reports of sluggish sales – all of which are true though - but Sony seems to feel that’s going to change at the end of the summer with some big games and the the cool-looking online world, Playstation Home, a bit later. Current global figures put PS3 sales at under 4m. Reeves said:
“That was faster than both PS2 and PSOne. And I think that the analysts out there will also realise that it’s faster than our brothers and sisters in the competitive world.”
On the software front, he said two million units of first party software have been sold into the channel: almost 600,000 units for Resistance: Fall of Man [the Church of England's favourite game] and Motorstorm approaching 500,000.-Martin Lynch
