I like fish because they require little in the way of attention, don't shag my leg, pee on the rug and, when they croak, they can be disposed of quickly in The Porcelain Portal.

I’m not sure about wanting my aquarium doubling up as a coffee table though. Still, the Coffee Table Aquarium makes for great conversation piece. It has a toughened glass top so that your cold-water fishies won’t drown in the inevitable beer spills, and a light diffuser for making it look very cool in the dark.

There’s a “unique filter system” designed to minimise cleaning. The table comes in four sizes, starting with the 19 gallon 34.5' x 34.5' x 16in model costing £899. Prices end with the 36 gallon model at £1,200.-Martin Lynch
