First it was the LG with built-in Google applications, today is a phone optimized for YouTube. LG announced today that they have signed an agreement with the company and will unveil it this year in Europe, probably before Apple releases the JesusPhone. However, the LG won't be just a YouTube client.

It will allow users not only to watch videos but also record and share them with other YouTubers, definitely a winner for true fans of the movie site. We don't know if it will use Flash-based video or H.264, but looking at the fact that it allows to record your own stuff (and probably uses that format for that) it will probably use it for decoding as well.

Solid Alliance, so beloved by fans of japanese kitsch, has gone in another direction with its latest USB key. Totally stripped down - I mean totally - the Hadaka's only flourish is a little pink light that zings up when plugged into your computer's USB.

Weighing just 4 grams, the Hadaka is Vista Ready Boost-compatible, and comes in 1GB and 2GB sizes.

Why take up all that room in your garage for a lawnmower, leaf collector and snow blower when you can have this three-in-one device that handles all three tasks and only requires a third of the space? Oh, wait. You can't have this device because it's just a concept, but its modular design by Gustav Lamberg looks like a good idea, taking care of all of your internal combustion duties with just one noisemaking smoke-belching contraption instead of three.

Sanyo’s Projector Shines From Just 3in July 03, 2007

sanyo-shortthrow-web.jpg The problem with many projectors is that in order to really get that ‘big screen’ thrill at home, the projector has to be a certain distance from the wall – usually 8-10 feet.

Sanyo has just introduced a high definition (HD) projector, perfect for those of us living in bedsits and over-priced broom closets.

The new Sanyo's PLC-XL50 - arriving at the end of the year – needs just 3in – yes 3in – to throw out an 80in image. Quite incredible really. The ultra-short throw distance has been achieved with a new optical engine based around a high-precision aspheric mirror. Combined with a distortion correction mechanism lens, the projector can magnify images without distorting them.

It’s expected to cost around £2,500 when it ships in December. Jump now for the full specs.-Martin Lynch

Well, here’s a topic bound to have a few avid gamers throwing mice and keyboards at each other. Gaming magazine Edge has just published The Top 100 Games of all time and the winner is…..The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The 10-year old game for the ’Nintendo 64 platform scooped the prize for a number of reasons, including one that said it helped bring about a new era of 3-D gaming. It is one of only five games that Edge ever gave a 10/10 score to. The issue was decided by thousands of votes from readers, expert opinion from the game industry and Edge’s editorial team.

The Top 10 are as follows and yes, some of you will be shocked, and possibly dismayed:

1) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)
2) Resident Evil 4 (GameCube, PlayStation 2)
3) Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)
4) Half-Life 2 (PC)
5) Super Mario World (Super Nintendo)
6) The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Super Nintendo)
7) Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox)
8) Final Fantasy XII (PlayStation 2)
9) Tetris (Various)
10) Super Metroid (Super Nintendo)

I guess I’m surprised that there’s only one PC game in the Top 10. No Warcrafts, Command & Conquers, Dooms…

Tony Mott, Editor-in-chief, said: “Ocarina of Time is nearly 10 years old, but its position at the top slot in Edge's 100 Best Video games shows that great game design does not age. In visual terms, it obviously cannot compete with today's Xbox 360 and PS3 productions, but, as with many classics, its appeal is about so much more than its appearance.”

So, tell me, what have they missed?-Martin Lynch

Amazon Funding HD DVD Indie-Movie Makers July 03, 2007

hd dvd vs blu-ray small.jpg Can Amazon and Microsoft boost the appeal of HD DVD format?

Probably not, but then anything’s better than nothing. The two have paired up to launch the 1,000 Indies Project to make it easy for filmmakers to produce movies in the HD DVD format. It will offer free authoring and set-up services for up to 1,000 selected independent titles, access to the CustomFlix disc-creation on-demand service and then for sale to Amazon’s 60m customer base.

“Programs like this one from Amazon lower barriers to entry for independent artists and provide audiences with increased access to high-quality, high-definition content,” said Christian Vesper, senior vice president of programming, acquisitions and scheduling for Sundance Channel.

Sundance Channel will review the HD movies for potential broadcast on its channel.

This is a good idea to get more HD DVD content out there but as a format ‘boost’, does it really compare to Blockbuster deciding to run with Blu-ray movies exclusively in almost 1,500 US rental stores? Umm…let me think.-Martin Lynch
