wii japan.jpg It’s becoming an regular statistic these days but yes, the Wii, has outsold the PS3 again in Japan. Last month, by a ratio of 6-to-1.

According to market tracker, Enterbrain, Nintendo flogged 270,974 Wii consoles compared to Sony’s 41,628 PS3s. Microsoft placed an understandable third with the Xbox 360 shifting 17,616 units.

For those of you into plotting graphs, this is how the last three months has looked on the Wii Outselling The PS3 Ratio Scale:

April: 4:1
May: 5:1
June 6:1

Taking bets for July now. Of course the Wii is significantly cheaper but, these kind of stats are now globally mirrored. And, as stats go, the only good they might do is speed up Sony’s plans for a PS3 price cut.-Martin Lynch

The book company behind the really handy ‘For Dummies’ series of books is about to launch a real-life GPS unit in the US, boasting the ‘World’s User-Friendliest Interface’.

Wiley Publishing has teamed up with manufacturer, Maylong, to create the GPS Navigation For Dummies, or the FD-35, the first device to fall under the brand name. It’s fairly standard looking – after all, there’s not a lot you can do with a GPS [unless you're Asus] – but it will act as an MP3 player and eBook reader.

“The foundation of the For Dummies brand is in helping consumers tackle new technology and helping consumers get the most from technology," noted John Hislop, Associate Director for Licensing at Wiley. “We are very excited about this partnership with the Maylong Group. Together we are building the best PND's on the market, which will empower new GPS users to get the knowledge they crave in the fastest, easiest way possible: The Dummies Way.”

This device is US-only right now and will arrive in October. Check out the specs after the jump.-Martin Lynch
