The Puhlmann Nixie. Or as I like to call it, Dr. Zarkov's Timing Countdown Thingamabob. You install its 12.7 x 6.2- inch brushed-steel frame on your kitchen wall and you will be able to time your roast or wait for Flash Gordon to save the Earth. All thanks to its always fascinating nixie tubes, as you can see in the demo video.

Screaming Fan Has an Anatomically Correct Uvula July 11, 2007

Scare kids and small animals everywhere with The Screaming Fan, a 3D sculpture of a crazed sports fanatic yelling his fool head off. It hangs out your car window, attached by a "break-resistant window bracket," but you'll have to supply your own screaming sound effects. This $25 rubberized torso can't decide whether it's a replica of Edvard Munch's "The Scream" or the spawn of a leftover mold from an inflatable sex doll factory.
Grundig’s Teletubby Wireless Speaker July 11, 2007

Meet Grundig’s latest hoover/space craft/blender. No, really, it’s just a very oddly-shaped wireless music system being flogged through Tesco.
Titled the GUSW5000, this outdoor [or indoor] speaker is designed to cope with the crappy UK summer weather since it’s splash-proof . It runs off 8 Size D batteries or mains and claims 20W of RMS sound. It has a 50ft range to the transmitter, which you can hook up to your MP3 player or hi-fi system. It even glows blue in the dark to attract those annoying summer midges.
Selling now for just under £100 as a ‘special offer’ on the Tesco home page but the product page you buy it off still has it listed as almost £150. C’mon Tesco, sort it out.-Martin Lynch

If you’re in the market for some pricey, but quality, iPod speakers then Cygnett wants your cash for its shiny Unison i-X5 speaker system.
Clad in glossy piano black, the speakers should fit nicely in your living room with your glossy piano black HDTV and glossy piano black single speaker surround sound system.
The speakers boast “superior cone bass drivers for deep bass, silk dome tweeters for smooth highs and built-in power amplifiers” to really add ‘oomph’ and clarity to your tracks. The speakers are rated at 70W apiece, which is more than enough for all but the biggest of rooms.
The dock charges as you listen, there are two audio ports and a port for hooking up a separate subwoofer if you really want your neighbours ceiling to collapse.
The enclosures are built from hand-crafted wood and they weigh in at a reassuring 10KG. The Unison i-X5 costs £250 but you can get it for £220 online, and comes with a 5-year guarantee.-Martin Lynch
Spike Lee’s £50,000 iPhone July 11, 2007

Not all the iPhones went to fat fanatics begging for food. Some, were actually bought with charity in mind.
Spike Lee bought the first iPhone to go on sale at the Apple NY store to help the Keep A Child Alive charity. The auction winner also gets a personalised voicemail greeting from Alicia Keys, a couple of Jawbone Bluetooth headsets, two return flights and VIP Tickets to the charity event where they will be given the phone by St. Bono himself.
Watch the video of Spike arriving [I say 'arriving' because charity volunteers did most of the 4-day queueing] and picking up the most expensive iPhone so far.-Martin Lynch
