Blu-ray has been edging ahead in the US high-def war [see the Blockbuster deal] but the story for the rival HD DVD format in Europe is not so bleak. Yet. Now Sauron’s Eye has fixed its Blu gaze on the European market with the launch a new Blu-ray site, promoting all the new movies and games.
Called The MMG Venue [Music, Movies and Games], it’s a slow, Flash-heavy place unless you have a fast broadband connection, but there’s a text version too. Oddly, the site interface looks like a dingy, neon-lit alleyway which I’m sure Sony didn’t intend, but there you go.
There’s a history of Blu-ray as well as trailers and info on new games and movies. Hardly a full-on Euro invasion.-Martin Lynch

World Of Warcraft Collectibles August 4, 2007

Considering there are millions of die-hard, World of Warcraft junkies in ther world, neglecting their loved ones and personal hygiene, to reach Level 70, I’m surprised there hasn’t been a bigger push on the collectibles side.
Maybe it’s licensing but check out this fab piece of WoW art. Based on one of the posters for The Burning Crusade add-on, this stunning sculpture from Sideshow Collectibles shows a Blood Elf female launching some aerial whup-ass on a beefy Draenai Paladin. The diorama is well over a foot tall and weighs in at 20lbs.
It’s been hand cast from polystone and will be hand painted to match the original art. The level of detail is mind-boggling – check out some close-ups after the jump. Due out in Q2 next year for around £150 but pre-orders are being taken now.-Martin Lynch
