Blu-ray has been edging ahead in the US high-def war [see the Blockbuster deal] but the story for the rival HD DVD format in Europe is not so bleak. Yet. Now Sauron’s Eye has fixed its Blu gaze on the European market with the launch a new Blu-ray site, promoting all the new movies and games.
Called The MMG Venue [Music, Movies and Games], it’s a slow, Flash-heavy place unless you have a fast broadband connection, but there’s a text version too. Oddly, the site interface looks like a dingy, neon-lit alleyway which I’m sure Sony didn’t intend, but there you go.
There’s a history of Blu-ray as well as trailers and info on new games and movies. Hardly a full-on Euro invasion.-Martin Lynch

"the story for the rival HD DVD format in Europe is not so bleak"
really? I always thought BluRay in Europe is far ahead? I can only speak for Germany, and you hardly find any HDDVDs here...
aw well, it doesnt really matter what we europeans do I guess *g*
Duuno about Germany, but here in the UK there's tons of HD-DVD disks, with only a small selection of Blu-ray disks. HMV/Virgin are the stores here in Liverpool that I've seen these different formats.
I'm guessing, with the late release of the PS3; and the pricey standalone Blu-ray players, HD-DVD companies have that slight edge/advantage over the other format.
I expect by the end of xmas/beginning of 2008 we'll see which format is considered popular.
i think that bluray has the edge in the UK as i hardly ever see HD DVD's. Dave is all wrong!!!!!!!1
