Butterfly Knife-esque CD/MP3 Concept August 9, 2007

MP3s may be the wave of the future, but that doesn't mean we've had the initiative to digitize our CD collection. This Dual Music Player concept is a both a portable MP3 player and a more portable CD player. Unfolding ala butterfly knife, the DMP concept spins your CDs while exposed the the world, but we bet the effect would look pretty wicked (especially when operating the dual purpose, self defense saw function).

Yanko commenters recommend the device rips CDs for you. And, while that idea completely makes sense, it also shows how understandably futile the portable CD player market has become. I for one miss the mechanical nature of musical playback. But then again, the near limitless battery life, micro designs and skip-free operation do a lot to make up for my illogical playback preferences. -Mark Wilson [yanko]

I. Want. One! Looks so cool. And sometimes, just sometimes, you want to play a CD rather than an mp3. Besides, you'd keep a CD on you with this just to show off! :)

Totally unsafe.
Totally want one.

The amount of times I'm out and buy a new cd i wish i could listen to on my mp3 player instantly, this rocks but you'd need some kind of pull out cd guard (much the same way as you'd whip open a paper fan) that would protect the CD from being touched/scratched and your eyes from contacting the laser.

You could use that as an impromptu tool for carving meat.

I like.

THIS is a great idea!
Sitting together with friends, there plays a good cd.. Quickcopy!

Looks a little bit like equipment from "impossible mission".

WANNA HAVE!!
