Anyone with a surround sound system will know how vital a subwoofer is but, the problem for many is that they tend to be quite big and difficult to place unobtrusively in the living room. The term ‘sore thumb’ applies.

Velodyne, experts in all things subwoofer, think its latest tiny woofer is the perfect solution. Measuring around 9ins [22.9 x 22.9 x 24.4cm], this little box promises an explosive 1200 Watts of dynamic power, or around 600 Watts RMS. That’s enough to shake the foundations. The company describes it best as “room-pounding bass from a room-friendly box”.

Despite its diminutive size though, the privilege of owning something that will not leave an unsightly bulge behind the curtain will cost you around £575. Full specs after the jump.-Martin Lynch

There are probably not too many reasons why anyone would like to delve deeper into Homer's head but if you make it a radio, you have at least one excuse.

I realise that in radio-land, DAB is all the rage but there's billions of people out that can't receive DAB signals or, when you ask them what DAB is, their eyes glaze over and they utter 'Huh?'

So, for those people and the millions of Simpsons fans out there, this AM/FM radio - with absolutely no frills beyond the gormless head of Homer - is for you. It measures 24.5 x 15 x 14cm and runs off two AA batteries.

All you need now is your fanboy hat on, a can of Duff and around £17.-Martin Lynch
