The HD DVD gang has no intention of going down quietly in the high-def format spat, despite disappointing Blu-ray Vs. HD DVD movies sales in the US. Toshiba is keeping things keen with its second set of price cuts in recent months.
The first batch coincided with arrival of the Blu-ray ready PS3 and saw the entry-level HD-E1 HD DVD player get reduced from £450 to £350. This time, the suggested retail price is £250. However a quick hunt on the web and I found it at Amazon for £220 or £180 at Play.com.
The HD-EP10, which can handle 1080p content, came in at £450 but is now being touted for £350. Even better, Gizmodo is happy to report that Play.com is already flogging it for £250 here.-Martin Lynch
