Mountain Dew/Halo 3 Ad Shows Gamers In Their Natural Environment September 04, 2007

Read more Consoles , Games , Gizmodo UK , Xbox

We all know Halo 3 is coming - Sep 26th over here. Older gamers will probably have to lock up their families while they play it for days on end since there’s every chance they will leave you as you frag for the flag.

I’m not sure if Mountain Dew [do we even get it here?] will keep you awake as well as coffee and Red Bull espressos and, I’m not even sure if it tastes any good, but if an ad can have any element of truth, then it’s the bits with lots of Halo 3 gamers from around the globe screaming at the TV, death-gripping their controllers and hopping off their seats.

In fact, the calm gamer with Mountain Dew is obviously not a Halo gamer, or any gamer, since he’s, well, acting normally. He might be an actor.-Martin Lynch

I remember mountain dew as a kid. It really was the nicest softdrink on the market for the short time it was available.

You can still buy it online but doubt we will get it in the high street.

(sigh)

Mountain Dew is an awesome drink - you can only get it in the US cause the UK version they tried to release was deemed too sweet, but Halo 3 + Mountain Dew would be an awesome mix!

I remember mountain dew too. It wasn't a bad drink however I don’t think it was too good for you. It had so much sugar that it used to crystallise around the top of the bottle!

Personally its not really to my taste, but there's a small corner shop in Ipswich that sells Arabic bottles of Mountain Dew.

I'm looking forward to playing this if I get the chance, but what made me comment was how, despite this being an article on a highly anticipated upcoming game, you've managed to set everyone reminiscing about a soft drink. I lol'd.

Lol

Order it by the crate full.

Although i had no idea it was that sugar filled. Ahh the ignorance of youth :)

Halo 1 2 or 3, Meh, I just don't get why everyone loves it so much I find it bland and uninspiring, the enemies lame and the whole 2 weapons thing irritating. That's not so say it's a bad game, it's generally good and solid enough, especially the vehicles handling, but the hype and expectancy are vastly out of proportion.

I'd be surprised if it's close to being as good as Bioshock or Half Life 2 or anywhee close to Counterstrike or Battlefield 2 in multiplayers.

Meh.

While Halo 3 gets all the hype and headlines, PC shooter Crysis is quietly waiting in the wings to blow it out of the water (in graphics and gameplay), and truly revolutionise the FPS genre.

Ahh, Halo 3. The culmination of what - almost a decade of work by the lads at Bungie? Having played the Friends & Family Beta Test and seen how the online coop, Forge and Saved Films integration is coming along, I think it's safe to already label this one of the most complete games ever made.

The amazing graphical styling, the intelligent and inspired enemy design, the two weapon system, the vehicle combat and above all the story! All these together will ensure this series' place at the top of the gaming pile.

Great.. my xbox has just gone wrong and the turnaround time can be up to 25 days!
I'm waiting for Team Fortress 2 to be released. I got bored with Halo 2, the real biggy will be GTA IV.

As a Brit in the US I can tell you that the main point is that Mountain Dew (which I am actually drinking right now) is pretty high in caffeine as well as sugar, so its a favourite drink for late night gaming, LAN parties etc etc. For me, its getting over being back at work after my son being born 2 weeks ago, no long paternity leave over here!! Neeed sleeeeep, neeeed sleeeeeeep. ;)

I hate to spot the obvious, but um Mountain Dew is basically trying to sell its product off the back of a popular video game??? Or am I missing something, in the same way sportsmen advertise trainers, am I?? i have tried mountain dew and like hershey bars it is ******** awful. The guy who mentioned getting a crate of it needs a dentist and an excercise bike. Instead go and get a decent beer, not the weak stuff in the States either..

Just the type of vacuous product placement that will appeal to Halo 3 players.

Hey there,

Looking for some gamers to talk about Halo on my radio show. Please email me at the addy above or call my voicemail and leave me your impressions for broadcast 888-635-1112... I am generally interested in why you either love or hate Halo and if you'll be buying a copy when it comes out--that day or otherwise. Thanks in advance.

Won't but it, don't have vista.
Seems like a cynical attempt to get everyone to buy vista/newPC.

Your not conning me again gates

You can buy Mountain Dew in the UK at various online stores. If you live or work near the center of London you can pick up a can or a bottle of the stuff at Cyber Candy, which is near Leicester Square station. They also have an online store.

I thought the point of the ad was that the guy at the end is killing all of the other people.
