Off the back of launching the first iPod dock speaker with in-built DAB - the stylish RDI-03 - Intempo has released its first Internet radio, which will let you tune into online radio stations wirelessly or through an Ethernet port without powering up the PC. The GX-01 will let you tune into 5,000 global radio stations by…

first automatically scanning for a nearby network and then hunting down stations. You can search via genre or location and store up to 99 stations once located. Even better, you can stream tunes from your PC or laptop to the radio while the USB port allows you to hook up a memory stick filled with music. It supports MP3, Real Audio and Windows Media Audio files.

The GX-01 is mains powered and comes with a built-in alarm clock and a remote control. It costs £120 from Argos, Tesco Direct and Amazon.co.uk.

I must say, I like the new directions that technology is taking good old-fashioned radio. -Martin Lynch
