I know, I know, bloody iPod docks, more common than an Eastenders extra, but this is the first from quality cable specialist IXOS and, apart from being pretty, it costs just £25. The company has obviously moved on from round sound to tubes.

The XMI308 is the first product in the ‘First by IXOS’ budget product line-up and is designed to work with the first three generations of nano, the new iPod Touch and, the 30GB iPod video and new 80GB Classic. It charges the iPod when docked and can run off 4 x AAA batteries as well as the mains.

Housing two-long throw alloy divers, the two speakers are rated at 2W – not enough to annoy the neighbours but maybe enough to enjoy, depending on the audio quality. There’s no remote – still, we are talking £25 here.

You should be able to find this soon at Play.com, HMV, and elsewhere.-Martin Lynch

Interesting.

I bought one of these on eBay for £9 last week. Less on the chrome but the same sideways design.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you find it for less than a tenner. My girlfriend got one for free from her job, they're tacky as hell.
