Well, here it is. The first trailer for 2008’s Iron Man movie. With Spidey now hanging up the tights and the X-Men trilogy in the bag, Iron Man is shaping up to be one of next year’s big superhero flicks.

Robert Downey Jnr. might seem like an odd choice for the crime-fighting billionaire, but then so was Michael Keaton for Batman and he did OK. From this clip, he looks just right. The rest of the time he – or someone else – is clad in metal or CGI’d, so who cares? I do like the way the way he’s an arrogant playboy crossed with a scumbag weapons dealer to start with.

Expect the action figures, computer games, T-shirts, special-edition consoles and any other number of merchandising add-ons to come rolling off the production lines in their millions over the coming months.-Martin Lynch

Looks good that. Scarily, RDJnr suits the role of Tony Stark quite well.

Looks great, but I'm so tired of the "Afghani terrorists" plot. *sighs*
