The new and improved PSP Slim & Lite has managed to sell 17,000 units in the UK in its first week. According to Sony the little belter has boosted sales four-fold over the previous week – which wouldn’t be too hard since they virtually dropped off a cliff in the run up to the arrival of the new model. A Sony spokesperson said:
“Of course we expected the previous weeks to be low as we moved the old stock through the channel in preparation for the Slim & Lite sku coming into retail, but now we are back on track and preparing for the launch of new products such as Go! Explore and Go Messenger.”
Of course, UK sales are peanuts compared to sales in tech-mad Japan, where the new PSP managed to sell over 95,000 units last week.-Martin Lynch
