iphone front x 2.jpg The latest warning from the Fruity One is that those who commit the heinous sin of unlocking their costly iPhone will run the risk of it not working with future updates.

Anyone who’s already bought an iPhone over this side of the Atlantic to use on a non-AT&T network – of course - probably already accepts the risk that a hack can do but Apple is just making sure that you know it.

Although the company says the hacked iPhone can be damaged by these unlocks and they might not work with future updates, it’s really warning you that it’s forthcoming software update has been designed NOT to work with an unlocked iPhone.

The Warning

Apple has discovered that many of the unauthorized iPhone unlocking programs available on the Internet cause irreparable damage to the iPhone's software, which will likely result in the modified iPhone becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied iPhone software update is installed. Apple plans to release the next iPhone software update, containing many new features including the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store (www.itunes.com), later this week. Apple strongly discourages users from installing unauthorized unlocking programs on their iPhones. Users who make unauthorized modifications to the software on their iPhone violate their iPhone software license agreement and void their warranty. The permanent inability to use an iPhone due to installing unlocking software is not covered under the iPhone's warranty.

It seems like there is more development and software coming from the internet for the iPhone than there is from Apple. Most Users of unlocked phones are not bothered about apple updates, as there are more than enough apps out there.
Fans love the phone, but some do not want to be forced to use another service provider, and Pay a high price to do so.
Think about it:
If apple did not want to have the phone unlock able they have the technology and skills to do so.

You can simply format your iphone to the way it came in the box and install the new update again. Yes it will be locked to the network but the options there. This is going to turn out to the similar waiting for a region free firmware for your DVD drive as in waiting for an unlocking method for each new apple update. Just means that the new functions will be a little late for those who want an unlocked phone.

It's likely that Apple have to be *seen* to be responding to hacked iPhones to appease their investors and contracts with telco's yet secretly they're loving the increase in hardware sales and publicity from fanboy websites.

This is just rubbish. There will always be a way around this software update to work if it really will not work with an unlocked phone. Apple just want to scare people into not unlocking their iphones!

I do not believe apple would really create a software update that deems unlocked iphones useless!
