Sling Media, which last week got snapped up for $380 million, has launched two new Slingboxes for those of you that need your regular TV fix, no matter where on the planet you happen to be. The first Slingbox hit the UK last May.

As long as you have Internet access, the Slingbox Pro and Slingbox Solo [pictured] will allow you to access your fave programmes remotely from your cable/satellite set-top boxes or digital video recorder (DVR). Both models can be hooked up to standard or HD set-top boxes, support regular and widescreen TVs and offer VGA resolution streaming at up to 8Mbps.

The Pro comes with an in-built analogue/digital TV tuner with DVB-T support and can hook up to up to four devices - DVRs, set-top boxes etc. It costs £200 and comes with a HD cable.

The new entry-level Solo is designed to hook up to just one device and costs £130.-Martin Lynch
