There are reports from CVG that Microsoft is quietly releasing its updated Xbox 360, codenamed Falcon, on to the market.

We won’t know for sure until someone gets all geeky – most likely on one of the new Halo 3 Edition consoles [above] - and takes a gander at the chips. The Falcon version will use new core and graphics processors based on a 65nm production process, as opposed to the 90nm chips used in all 360s now.

Anyone that has experienced the ‘Red Ring Of Death’ [my hand is up] will know that these babies can sometimes get so hot they can fry your console. Microsoft had to overhaul its whole warranty scheme as a result.

The new chips are expected to run quieter and generally be more stable. Check out this forum link to see an easy way of discovering if your shiny new 360 has the old or the new processors.

Feel free to send in any reports of the Falcon Xbox 360 showing up in the UK.-Martin Lynch

What do keys, beer bottles and iPod Shuffles have in common? The answer is that they can be controlled by one very handy combo-device.

Meet the £10 Bevy, an iPod Shuffle case – with earphone cord manager – a keychain and a bottle opener in one. Protecting your iPod is a no-brainer but combining it with something that can open beer 24/7 is just plain genius. Sticking the keychain bit on is clever too since while there’s every chance that you’ll lose your keys while smashed, there’s very little chance of misplacing the vital bottle-opener.

Now you’ll never have to throw stones at the window again at 4am to get your darling wife to come down and let your drunk ass in. Well, probably.-Martin Lynch

We saw some very cool prototypes of Sony’s planned OLED TVs at January's CES 2007 Show in Vegas but we’re now happy to report that they are a reality. At least in Japan.

On December 1st, Sony will start selling the Sony Drive XEL-1 OLED TV which measures in at an anorexic 3mm thin. It might be skinny and only have a display size of 11in, but it boasts a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Resolution is clocked at 960x540 pixels and it sports a digital TV tuner, little 1Watt speakers, a HDMI input, Ethernet and USB ports.

It will cost around £850, which is a helluva price to pay for a tiny TV but, hey, we are talking the first commercially available OLED TV here.-Martin Lynch
