This concept phone went live yesterday, after months of build up, and now’s your chance to see what the hype is about.
The Serenata is the latest luxury phone offering from Bang & Olufsen and Samsung – one knows a thing or two about audio and the other a little bit about mobile phones. Their previous offspring was the decidedly odd-looking Serene.
The Serenata is certainly striking looking, with that dominant metal scroll wheel on top and a 2.4in LCD display underneath but, it has some other things on offer too to help you part with your cash – and part with it you will mostly likely have to do. After all, the Serene cost £675.
B&O boasts that the phone’s loudspeaker delivers hi-fi quality sound, which is some claim indeed, but it has been built to deal with uncompressed lossless audio files and has 4GB of storage. Music formats supported include the usual suspects, MP3, WMA, and AAC. The phone supports HDSPA connectivity so Web access should be speedy - as long as you're with an operator offering it.
There’s no price yet but, like I said, this is not for the faint-hearted.-Martin Lynch
